Do You Live to Travel? I certainly do. When I arrange a trip, I have no shortage of people who want to join because they know I’ll do all the planning.

If you are, like me, the Planner in your company, group of friends, or family then YouLi is for you.

You listen to all the questions from Travellers: “when is Chris arriving”, “do I need sunscreen?”, “can you make sure I’m not sharing a room with the him”, “is this included?” and you ask yourself, “didn’t they read the email/word doc/spreadsheet/facebook message/etc that I sent them?” Of course not, because asking you is easier than wading through all the information they don’t care about.

After arranging a few custom group trips, creating massive documents that no one read and chasing long email threads I realised I needed something better.

So together with my amazing team, we built that something better. And we called it “YouLi”, as in “You Live to Travel”.

The name “YouLi” has a unique origin, it comes from my year of studying Mandarin Chinese where I came across a word for “travel”: 游. I combined that with the word for “power” 力, and transliterated that into English as “YouLi”. It sounds different in Mandarin, but I liked the way it became YOU combined with “li” (pronounced like “lee”) which makes me think of the lee side of an island and has a bit of whimsy in it. Which is why it’s the playful part of our logo.

The balloon is because I think travel should take you to new heights and I think the number of people that fit in a balloon basket (6-10) is a great number to create very memorable experiences – if you can manage it effectively.

YouLi is built for groups – we built the first prototype for my Epic Destination Wedding with over 30 guests coming from all over the world travelling to Jordan – we created a travel experience we never thought possible. Now I want to do that for as many people as possible, and we need all the planners of the world to help make it happen.

For our first pilot we delivered the communication and itinerary management necessary for an annual conference of over 150 staff for a SEEK Learning. Since then, we’ve done many more trips as part of our early adopter program.

When you are ready to ditch the spreadsheet and start collaborating using the most effective channels with your Travellers, YouLi will satisfy your need for detail and control while still making it fun and easy for the Traveller – during all the phases of planning the trip.

Signup to be notified when we launch so you can ensure for your next travel event:

* Travellers are informed without being overwhelmed by irrelevant details in the Facebook Group – “Just tell me where to be and when”

* Planners are aware of gaps in the plan and actions required to ensure all travellers are accounted for – “I know I’ve managed the necessary contingencies and everyone is informed”

* Travellers can manage their own travel and keep Planners informed – “I want to be independent but still join the group for some activities”
